Plaza Morazan Groundbreaking Underway
We were excited to attend the ground breaking ceremony of Plaza Morazan this Saturday, May 13. Plaza Morazan is dedicated to the history that unites Central America. A circular cobble court with a central bust of Francisco Morazan in the northern corner is facing SSE towards a flat mortared representation of Central America in an urbanite court. The gentle slope is terraced by broken concrete walls that also double as stairs and benches. The design and construction will feature sustainable landscaping methods and materials, such as recycled and reused concrete and cobble, drought tolerant plants, water efficient irrigation, and landscape lighting. Seven Tabebuia trees provide shade, color and habitat, planted around the perimeter with companion plants and mulch around their base. The grading is designed to retain rain water on site. Plaza Morazan will be beautiful, meaningful, and useful for the community.
